The nation has been on the ropes since President Violette Clingersmith's abdication and eventual departure last July. Shortly following Clingersmith's formation of Sunþrawegaz, other high ranking citizens began to leave DSL, including Vice President Jennifer Veras, Founder Tegan Paris, and Secretary of Defense Cheyenne Talavan.
Yesterday Clingersmith met with fellow DSL Founders Paris, Diego Bell and Caleb Flaville (the other Founders, Justin Zeller and Jericho Gilmore, have not been contactable for some time) to discuss the possibility of intervening in DSL's affairs to stave off the decline. Instead they unanimously agreed to shut down the micronation entirely. The Founders agreed to initiate Article 9 of Plan 187. Plan 187 was drafted in September 2013 in order to end the ongoing conflict between DSL and a rival government, as well as to protect against any future coups or civil wars. Article 9 laid down the specifics on how to temporarily shut down all facets of DSL's government, an action that was utilized by DSL between 2013 and 2015. Although the Founders are intending to shut down DSL for good, Article 9 of Plan 187 is the only legal instruction manual for how such a process is to be done. The Founders did agree on two stipulations prior to voting on the shut down. Firstly, the initiation of the collapse would need current President Matthew Perry's approval. Secondly, Clingersmith's new micronation, Sunþrawegaz, would have to be declared the successor state. The latter was agreed upon in an effort to prevent foreign micronationalists from stealing cultural aspects of DSL that the Founders had spent several years working on, and using them in a way unappreciated by the creators. The micronation of Hiraeth may also be considered a successor state, having split from DSL in October of last year, but King-Pope Marvel has yet to comment on any of these developments. As part of the first stipulation, the Founders approached President Perry earlier today with an offer to collapse DSL. Just after 18:00 EST, he agreed to abdicate the office and hand over all executive authority to the Founders. At 18:09 EST, the Founders declared that Article 9 had been initiated, with an effective date in four days time. Unlike the last time Article 9 was rolled out in 2013, DSL is not slated to return from this shut down. Thus the Republic of Drew Star Line has all but officially ceased to exist: 13 September 2005 to 7 September 2017 In an odd move for a fictional entity, Violette Clingersmith has now made it possible for the average person to become a "citizen" of Sunþrawegaz. The Lego-based micronation is allowing people to fill out an application form and be rewarded with a Lego minifigure with that individual's name and likeness to physically exist in the brick-built landscape of Sunþrawegaz.
Anybody is allowed to fill out this application form, which is provided below. Aside from requiring a name of some kind and a photograph of yourself (or, as the form states "what you wished you looked like"), applicants get to choose a specific cultural group that populate the world of Qarna, where Sunþrawegaz is based, as well as independently choosing up to five career options, which Clingersmith will then narrow down to one. All applicants will eventually receive a copy of their plastic Sunþrawegaz representative, and may be consulted in the future for their minifigure's home decor. They will also receive a Lego-brick built flag of Sunþrawegaz with the title "Honorary Citizen." You can find the application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf3gADUMMYFQu0Q8Tjd1Kmx3g4N4RmxeRfzj8YDjHncxqORNQ/viewform The micronation of Sunþrawegaz, after just 10 days since it was first created, has shifted all of its major goals. Before it was a Proto-Germanic cultural state with plans to settle the Kerguelens and other southern Indian Ocean islands. But as of today, Kuningǭ Beulēt I announced plans to make Sunþrawegaz a "Sabia and Verona, but with LEGOs."
Beulēt I has always been a fan of LEGOs, and she has been a founding member of the multinational LEGO build team "Backstreet Bricksters" since 2014. According to Beulēt I: "I first got into LEGOs as an adult when I saw work by Japanese model maker, Kai Abe. He had made a LEGO model of the Soviet Mars 3 spacecraft, at a time when I was looking through NASA images trying to find its brother, Mars 6. Since then me and Kai, together with about a half dozen other AFOLs, have worked on various projects together, including winning second place for the technology category at a contest in Chicago for our working LEGO radio, which used metalized bricks instead of wires. So, what will this new Sunþrawegaz look like? Beulēt I has stated that one of her favorite locations and time eras is Mesopotamia between the founding of Christianity and Islam, a time when Rome and Persia both fought over access to the Tigris and Euphrates. During this time, cities in this region were already built upon 10,000 years of civilization, and became a way station for Chinese, Indian, Persian, Roman and African merchants. This was the first time in history that all of these groups came together and exchanged ideas, and it is this place and time that the new Sunþrawegaz will be based off of. This new revision of the micronation will still be known as Sunþrawegaz, and will still fly its current flag, mainly because Beulēt I likes them both. "This will be a micronation that will take many years to come to fruition," says Beulēt I. "But, I think when it is complete, it will serve as an example of the incredible versatility of micronationalism." Sunþrawegaz Kuningadōmas is the latest micronational project founded by the eccentric former president of the Republic of Drew Star Line, Suzuki Clingersmith. Sunþrawegaz, which is pronounced "soon-thrah-way-ghaz," was created last Wednesday, and it has already made a big splash within the micronational community. Sunþrawegaz is what Clingersmith calls a "cultural country," and has made plans to create a Proto-Germanic inspired nation amongst several island in the southern Indian Ocean and parts of Antarctica.
Sunþrawegaz has made bilateral recognition pacts with the Empire of Nedlando-Khorașan,the Kingdom of Jupiter, the Republic of Drew Star Line, the Imperial Federation of Zenrax, and the Socialist Commonwealth of Uskor, and is hoping to increase that number to 15 foreign relations by the end of this week. As part of the current relationship with Nedlando-Khorașan, Clingersmith has partnered up with Ned Greiner to host a Micronational Flag Contest in September, with auditions currently underway now, and can be entered by following this link: micronations.wiki/wiki/User:DNSgov/Nedland-Sun%C3%BErawegaz_Flag_Contest Earlier today, Clingersmith (who's official title in Sunþrawegaz is Kuningǭ Beulēt I) signed the Treaty of Universal Peace, officially making Sunþrawegaz a member of the Union Against Micronational Warfare. She stated that her reasoning behind the move was because she is a pacifist when it comes to macronational conflict, so it would only make sense for her to be against micronational conflict. This was also done because Clingersmith does not want to re-witness the chemical warfare of the 2010 Rice Lane War (for which she led the victorious party), as well as a counter to what she feels is a growing threat from the Popular Union of Occitania. Occitania's leader, President Babou Chkaya, has publicly condemned Sunþrawegaz for claiming the Kerguelen Islands of France, and has labeled Clingersmith as a "defiant disturber of public order" for refusing to renounce her micronation's land claims. |
